Deep teal and blue with thick white drifts across the middle, and columns of golden-yellow dots falling through like rain catching the light. One of a kind, 9×12 original acrylic on stretched canvas.
The ground here goes from teal to deep ocean blue with violet creeping in at the corners. Across the center, thick white sits in heavy drifts — scraped on with a knife, standing up off the canvas. And running down through it in vertical columns are hundreds of small golden-yellow dots, each one raised, catching light like beads.
The dots are what make this painting. They went on last, one at a time, in strands that fall from top to bottom — and the yellow against all that blue is the whole reason it works. It’s a small amount of color doing a lot of heavy lifting.
Blue and gold is a classic pairing and this is a modern take on it. It’s handsome in an office, a living room or a hallway, and it holds up next to both cool grey and warm wood. If you’re building a gallery wall, this is a strong anchor piece.
