A large heart sits at the center of this canvas, outlined in bright pink and filled with softer rose and lavender that lets the blue underneath show through. Behind it the ground is deep cobalt and magenta, worked wet so the colors run into one another, with a second pale heart just visible behind the first.

The outline went on in one continuous stroke. You can see where the brush loaded up and where it started to run dry near the point at the bottom, and I left that in — a heart drawn perfectly would be a different painting entirely.

This is the most straightforwardly warm thing in the shop. It’s lovely in a bedroom, a nursery, or a girl’s room, and it’s an easy gift for an anniversary, a wedding, a new baby or a friend who needs something kind on their wall. Blue and pink together stop it from feeling like a valentine — it stays modern.
