Where the other Mermaid paintings are saturated, this one breathes. Pale teal and turquoise drift across the lower half, blush pink and magenta gather at the sides, and near the top a warm flare of coral and orange breaks through like light coming over water. The whole surface is scraped, layered and slightly crackled.

This was made with a palette knife in thin passes, letting each layer dry just enough that the next one would drag rather than blend. The lacy patterns in the teal happened on their own as the paint pulled apart — I never get the same effect twice, which is half the reason I keep working this way.

It’s the quietest painting in this group and the easiest to put anywhere. It works over a bed, in a bathroom, in a spare room, or as part of a gallery wall where you need something that softens everything around it. Hang it beside Mermaid Dream and the pair reads like a set.
