Look in the upper left corner and you’ll find a tiny figure, arms raised, standing at the end of a long curving path.
Everything else in Longing is weather and distance: magenta and violet washing across the middle, deep blue sweeping through in broad strokes, white clouds banked along the top, and a red shape rising on the right like something on the horizon. The figure was the last thing I painted. Once the sky was finished, it was obvious the painting needed someone standing in all that space.
This is a fine-art print of that original acrylic painting, a big, emotional piece that rewards a second look.
