I didn’t set out to paint a tree, but that’s what appeared.

Rising is a dark form climbing up the middle of the canvas and branching at the top, with two heavy scrolls curling out on either side in black and deep wine red. Behind it is a field of gold, brushed on in broad leaf-shaped strokes, with rust, cream and small orange-centered targets running along the bottom edge.

This is a fine-art print of that original acrylic painting. It’s warm and bold, made for a room with wood tones, brass or deep reds. (The gold in the original is metallic paint; the print keeps its color and texture, though not the shimmer.)
