Deep red and black scrolls curl across warm gold, with a striped orange corner and rows of little targets along the bottom. Rich, warm and a bit theatrical. One of a kind, 9×12 original acrylic on stretched canvas.
Two heavy scrolls sweep across this canvas — outlined in black, filled with deep wine red — turning over each other in the middle. Behind them the surface glows: brushed gold, warm brown, rust and cream, with a run of orange-and-black stripes in the top right corner and small silver-and-orange targets marching along the bottom left.
The gold is real metallic paint, and it shifts as you move past it — flat and olive in low light, properly bright when the sun hits it. Everything else is built around that: the reds are deep enough to hold their own beside it, and the black scrolls give it structure.
This is one of a pair — its sibling Rising uses the same red, gold and black vocabulary and they look wonderful hung together. On its own, it’s a warm anchor for a room with wood tones, brass fixtures or leather. It reads sophisticated without trying to.
